In Memory: Joe Vaughn

Long before he joined us on stage, Joe Vaughn could be found in the audience of the JSTT spring musical and snapping his traditional selfies with the cast members after the show. When something needed to be done, Joe was often the person who did it, whether it was moving set pieces, pulling the troupe float in the Scandinavian Days parade, or snapping promo pictures during dress rehearsals, Joe was always willing to pitch in, and he did so with a smile.

Joe made appearances on stage as Daryl Grady in our 2016 production of Curtains! and as the beloved Addams Family ancestor, Captain General Redondo Ventana Laguna Don Jose Cuervo, in 2017. His participation in the moon dance was particularly memorable!

Joe Vaughn passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021. His absence will be deeply felt by the whole JSTT family.

We are honored that he chose Judge Story’s Theatrical Troupe as an organization to receive memorial donations. If you would like to donate in his memory, checks may be mailed to JSTT, PO Box 273, Story City, IA 50248, or dropped off in person at the Story City GCC office (524 Broad St, Story City). You may also donate online through our Square link at the button below.

“The play is done; the curtain drops.

Slow falling to the prompter’s bell

A moment yet the actor stops

And looks around to say farewell.”

– William Makepeace Thackeray
